The college established on 6th August 1965 with the help of widow of Late Kumar Kalidas Pandey, the king of Ambar Pargana. Late Kumar died Issueless, His widow queen Jyotrimoyee Devi donated a single piece of land about 42 Bigha 16 katha 1dhur registered deed on 30.10.67 in name of governor of Bihar. She with the help of the educationist of the area started the college at Pakur as there was no institution of higher education within the radius of 100 km. The college was granted affiliation by the Then Bhagulpur University (Now T.M. Bhagalpur) in 1966. The college was granted “Grants in add” status by the Department of Education Government of Bihar in 1971. In the pursuance of Education Department, Government of Bihar letter no J/01.0108/77E&n882 dated 24.07.80. The Governing body, of the college, consisting of the Secretary, the principal and the secretary of the Teachers Association of the college resolved and handed over the management to the Registrar. Bhagalpur University on 12.12.1980. The University took over its all liability and assets. Thus, the college converted into a constituent unit of the University Sido Kanhu Murmu University was established in the name of Sidho Kanhu the two great martyrs on Jan.10, 1992 by an act of Bihar Legislative Assembly published in the Bihar Gazette (Ext. ord.) dated 05th March 1992 to cater the need of higher educational facilities of Santhal Parganas Division Carved out of the Then Bhagalpur University. Its territorial jurisdiction is entire Santhal Parganas Division of Jharkhand.

The college is the only degree college situated in the backward and poor region of Santhal Pargana division of Jharkahnd state. As far as professional course is concerned, the college successfully running the B.Ed. College since last eight years. The Undergraduate professional courses like BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) and B. Lib. Sc bachelor of Library Science) is also running since two years.
